Under the direction of the Jackson R. Lehman Family YMCA Aquatics Director, the Aquatics Coordinator is responsible for supporting a positive and safe atmosphere while supervising and implementing aquatics programs in accordance with YMCA of the USA Aquatics Program.
They also assist with staff in-services, complete some clerical work, and fill in for the Aquatics Director in their absence, including:
Manage and coordinate materials and equipment for all aquatic programs, (i.e. class list, program schedule, schedules, rosters, lesson plans, bulletin boards newsletter, etc.)
Maintain diligent surveillance of the water and pool deck areas
Respond to emergency situations in accordance with YMCA policies and procedures.
Teach swim lessons when necessary and lifeguard as needed.
Fill in for Aquatic Director in their absence.
Assist in the supervision and development of aquatics employees.
Attend and support meetings and mandatory in-service training, be able to give presentations when needed.
PAY RATE DETAILS
Starting pay range: $10 to $12/hr depending on experience
Hours Available at the Jackson R. Lehman Family YMCA, 5680 YMCA Park Drive West, Fort Wayne, IN 46835
Tuesday and Thursdays, 4 p.m. - 8 p.m.
Saturdays, 8:30 a.m. - 1 p.m.
Some Wednesday & Sunday evenings
Must be at least 18 years or older
Must possess supervisory skills and 1-3 years of related experience
American Red Cross Lifeguarding certification is preferred
Certification from the YMCA or another accredited association PREFERRED (LGI and YMCA PYAL, etc.) or must become certified within 60 days
Flexible schedule including nights and weekends
Reliable transportation to attend work
Able to fulfill all demands in spirit, mind, and body as an aquatics coordinator in accordance with YMCA standards.
Demonstrates effective communication and listening skills.
Welcoming, service-oriented attitude serving diverse groups of adults in regard to age, abilities, ethnicity, gender, race, economic status, religion, etc.
Team player willing to contribute to the culture, mission, and values of the YMCA.
Free individual membership at all YMCA of Greater Fort Wayne facilities (Allen, Whitley, Wells counties); part-time staff have the opportunity for a small cost to add additional eligible members.
