Early Learning Center Infant Room Assistant - Whitley County Family YMCA

The Armstrong Early Learning Center of Whitley County Family YMCA is seeking part-time Infant Room Assistants that are enthusiastic, organized, and compassionate with a strong desire to positively impact the lives of infant children. 

Under the supervision of the Armstrong Early Learning Lead Teacher, the Infant Room Assistant will help plan and implement developmentally appropriate activities for an assigned group of infants and be responsible for their care.

They will also help develop friendly and positive relationships among staff, volunteers, parents, and promote a healthy, emotional, social, intellectual, and physical environment of each child.

Within one year of hire, the Infant Room Teaching Assistant will need to have 20 consecutive hours of training; this is an annual requirement.



Starting pay range: $8.25 to $8.75 depending on experience

Hours Available at the Armstrong Early Learning Center of Whitley County Family YMCA, 950 East Van Buren Street, Columbia City, IN 46725:

  • Monday through Friday 8:30 a.m. to 6 p.m.
  • Shifts available three days a week.



  • Minimum of 21 years of age.
  • Reliable transportation to attend work.
  • Experience working with infant children.
  • Organized, creative, consistent, compassionate.
  • Able to fulfill all demands in spirit, mind, and body as a teachers assistant for the early learning center.
  • Promote diversity by including all students - believing diversity is an asset, rather than a burden to be tolerated.
  • Positive, service-oriented attitude serving diverse groups of students in regard to age, abilities, ethnicity, gender, race, economic status, religion, etc.
  • Team player willing to contribute to the culture, mission, and values of the YMCA
