After School Child Care Site Assistant - Mary Raber Elementary

The Whitley County Family YMCA is seeking a part-time After School Care Site Assistant who is enthusiastic, energetic, and compassionate with a strong desire to positively impact the lives of young children. 

Under the supervision of the Site Director, the After School Care Site Assistant supports a YMCA program for school-age children after school at Mary Raber Elementary School, a Whitley County Consolidated Elementary School, during the school year.

Through assisting the site director and their staff, the Child Care Site Assistant provides participants with age-appropriate activities to promote a safe, fun, nurturing learning environment and memorable experiences with the YMCA.

They are also responsible for helping maintain records of parent payments, distribution of receipts, handle all immediate discipline issues with students and keeping parents and the Child Care Site Director informed.

Successful leadership in this position is defined as growth in student participation and quality enrichment, sound adherence to defined safety and educational standards by the staff, and positive feedback from parents.



Starting pay range: $9.25 to $9.75 depending on experience

Hours Available at a Whitley County Consolidated School site:

Mary Raber Elementary School,  700 E Jackson St, Columbia City, IN 46725

  • After School - 2 p.m. to 6 p.m.
  • Monday through Friday
  • Must be willing to work 45-minute delay care, 2 hour delay care, 3 hour delay care, no school care, and holiday breaks



  • Minimum of 16 years of age.
  • Childcare experience preferred, but not required.
  • Organized, detail-oriented, effective money-manager.
  • Must show strong work ethic.
  • Reliable transportation to attend work.
  • Able to fulfill all demands in spirit, mind, and body as an assistant for school-age child care services.

  • Positive, service-oriented attitude serving diverse groups of students in regard to age, abilities, ethnicity, gender, race, economic status, religion, etc.
